Ploughing Efficiently Using Different Plough in Farming

Tilling the soil before planting or land preparation is a critical operation that needs to be handled carefully for the success farming. Due to the need of different types of equipment for different types crops it can also be expensive. A farmers need to choose the right type of tillage equipment depending on the need of ploughing pattern for the crop.

The key purpose of using different types of plough or tillage equipment is to reduce the number of rounds and get the best out of thesoil.

Tillage equipment can be decided in two categories –

Primary Tillage Equipment

Secondary Tillage Equipment

However some of the versatile equipment like rotary tiller and power tiller can be used as primary as well as secondary tillageequipment. Know here about the best tillage equipment such as disc plough, mould-board plough, harrow, rotary tiller, sub soiler.

Disc Plough – A disc plough consists of large, revolving and curved steel disc that upturns the soil creating furrow slice toone side like a scooping action. A disc plough is suitable for the existing andnew farmland where weeds grow easily as the disc cuts and incorporate the weeds efficiently.

Mould-board Plough – A mould-board plough isgenerally used as a secondary tillage equipment. It give soil a smooth structure to prepare seedbed as the furrows are cut clearly. It is used after ploughing the soil with a disc plough.

Reversible Mould-board Plough - A reversible mould-board plough consists steel bottoms with points for finest ploughing. It turns soilto one side in first round and to other on returning. Easy drawbar adjustment, strong turnover axle, hydraulic turnover mechanism, under-frame clearance makes reversible mould-board plough perfect to cope with trashy conditions.

Disc Harrow - A disc harrow is typically made up ofboron discs or carbon steel discs in different sizes and spaces amongst the disc blades can be different to for different requirement in farming. It boosts the productivity and efficiency and plays a significant role in preparing the soil to enhance crop yields. Harrow breaks up lump in the soil easily and gives it a rich finish to make a perfect seedbed for sowing.

Rotary Tiller - A rotary tiller or rotavator used revolving blades attached to a frame that cuts the upper layer of the soil andpulverizes it. The rotavator needs power from the tractor PTO and works best for all ploughing jobs.

Sub Soiler - The key purpose of using a subsoiler or a subsoil plough is to dig up and break up hard layers of the subsoil allowing better root growth, better drainage and sufficient mineral osmosis.
